A group of our top Year 11 mathematicians competed in a ‘Go Beyond Maths Masterclass’ this week at Wigan and Leigh College. Our pupils took part in 3 rounds throughout the morning challenging the other mathematicians from local schools, St Peters Catholic High School and St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School.

The first round saw our pupils work together, using their knowledge,  understanding and problem solving skills to crack 12 difficult maths problems. The second round was an exam question relay where pupils raced against the clock to try and finish their questions first with the least mistakes.  In the final round the groups were tasked with trying to build a self-supporting ‘Pringle’  ring. Our Deputy Head Girl, Ellie took the lead on this challenge and skilfully made the circle of Pringles. The team came first and were the overall winners from the morning.

Our Super Mathematicians : Ellie, Corey, Artur, Joshua, Steven and Leah. Well done Year 11!
